Adolescence is an exciting time of growth and change - and these changes can have a huge impact on both the adolescent and their families.

Teens begin to understand more about themselves and their place in the world with a focus on the future.

But for the young humans who have a history of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) or a traumatic situation, these years are a major challenge.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) reports that mental health-related issues often interfere with the academic success of kids and teens alike:

-High school students with significant symptoms of depression are more than twice as liklely to drop out compared to their peers

-Students aged 6-17 with mental, emotional or behavioral concerns are 3x more likely to repeat a grade.
